Fran has been working with glass for twenty years. After completing a diploma in art and design in 1984, she began designing in tiffany and stained glass - working to commission at her studio in the Custard Factory in Birmingham. She began teaching in 1993 at the Birmingham Industrial Therapy Association, where people with learning difficulties develop new skills. In 1996 she began a BA in jewellery and silversmithing at the University of Central England School of Jewellery in Birmingham, during which she developed ideas and designs for incorporating glass in jewellery. Since graduating she has continued to develop these techniques and together with Jane has devised a saleable range of jewellery pieces that are sold in Craft Council accredited shops and galleries. She has recently completed an ONC qualification at the International School of Glass in Stourbridge - to expand her knowledge of glass techniques and technology.
